HYDERABAD: Four members, including two children, of a family from Tolichowki died when their car overturned in Nizamabad district on Wednesday. Police suspect that one of the victims, who was behind the wheel, may have dozed off, causing the vehicle to hit the divider and roll over multiple times before crashing into the safety railing.
The deceased were identified as Minhaz Begum, 38, a housewife from Aruna Colony in Tolichowki, her brother Md Amjad Sheikh, 32, of Wardha in Maharashtra, Minhaz's children seven-year-old Syed Ahil Ahmed and three-month-old Syed Filza. Three other children of Minhaz, including a 19-year-old girl and two others who are below seven years, suffered injuries in the incident.
According to police, Minhaz's husband Syed Zubair Ibrahim Sha runs a glass emporium in Tolichowki. At 11pm on Tuesday, Minhaz along with her brother and the five children started their journey to Wardha in a car. "Amjad Sheikh was tired before starting the journey. During the journey, he stopped the vehicle for an hour and slept. But it looked like he was still sleep deprived and ended up causing a fatal accident," Armoor Rural police said.
Around 6.30 am, the car overshot the median and rolled over multiple times before crashing into the side railing near Kotjhapalli between Mupkal and Nirmal, police said. Minhaz and the infant fell out of the car and died on the spot, while Amjad and Ahil Ahmed died in the vehicle with multiple injuries. Police said that the condition of the three injured was stable and a case was registered.
