CHENNAI: An 'agent' of the beleaguered IFS financial firm committed suicide at his house near Vellore after people who had invested up to Rs 5 crore through him started asking him to return their money.
Vinod Kumar himself had sold his land and deposited Rs 50 lakh in the firm. The company is facing multi-crore cheating allegations, and its promoters have gone missing.
Vinod Kumar, 40, of Sevur near Vellore, has left behind a suicide note saying: 'I had helped many people deposit in IFS. Please retrieve the money and give it to the victims. The depositors who trusted in me should get their hard-earned money back at least after my death'.
EOW officials said Vinod Kumar had canvassed more than 4,000 people to invest Rs 5 crore in various schemes.
