NEW DELHI: With the number of Covid-19 cases and test positivity rate continuously rising in Delhi, chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday said the government was keeping a close eye on it.
Talking to reporters, the chief minister said that the government would take all necessary steps to control the spread of infection. “The cases are indeed rising but they are mild in nature. Those catching the infection are experiencing minor fever. We are keeping an eye on it and will take all necessary steps that are required,” Kejriwal said.
On August 7, Delhi witnessed 17.85% test positivity rate, highest since January 21. While it dropped marginally to 15.41% on August 8, a total of 2,495 fresh cases were reported in the city taking the number of active cases to 8,506. Seven deaths were also reported on August 8.
While the number of Covid patients in home isolation stands at 5,504, a total of 507 patients are currently admitted in hospital, as per the latest health bulletin released by the government on Tuesday. There are 253 containment zones currently active in Delhi.
