The car is removed out of the drain by police on Tuesday
MUMBAI: Nearly five hours after four BPO employees and their driver had a miraculous escape when their car fell into an overflowing Mogra nullah at Andheri subway, the car, a commercial vehicle, was pulled out of the drain by police around 9am, BMC's K-West ward officials said.
The Andheri subway was closed for traffic movement later on Tuesday morning due to water logging following heavy rains.
The incident happened around 4.30am when the car of the call centre, located in Andheri-MIDC area, was on its way to drop the staffers back home in the western suburbs after their working hours. "It was a miraculous escape for all five-two women and three men. The D N Nagar police van No. 1 received an alert from a garage owner from the locality and reached the spot within minutes," said senior inspector Milind Kurde.
"A second late, and it could have cost them their lives. They were in shock after they were pulled out. All of them were counselled and taken to Cooper Hospital and discharged after examination. No one suffered any injury," an officer said. D N Nagar police have made a diary entry of the incident.
