
India Monsoon News Updates, Weather News Update, Rain News Live Today, August 9, 2022:The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday issued a ‘red alert’ for north Konkan, north central Maharashtra, east and west Vidarbha, forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall in the regions. Relief is likely after August 12, it said. Various parts of Maharashtra have been witnessing heavy showers since Sunday and the IMD said the heavy rainfall is likely to continue over the state. The IMD has also issued an ‘orange alert’ for Marathwada, south central Maharashtra and south Konkan. It said parts of the state could witness heavy to very heavy rainfall rainfall, while isolated places could also receive extremely heavy downpour. On Tuesday morning, Mumbai witnessed heavy rains coupled with strong winds.
In other news, districts in southern West Bengal, including Kolkata, are likely to receive heavy rainfall this week due to low pressure in the Bay of Bengal, the Meteorological Department said. The state government has alerted the administrations of coastal districts in the wake of the forecast of the weather department that said fishermen from the state have been advised not to venture into the sea from August 8 to 11.
Meanwhile, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee returned from Delhi on Sunday, cutting short her stay in the national capital by a day, to take stock of the situation in the state in the wake of bad weather prediction by the Met Department.

On Monday, the maximum temperature settled at 35.2 degrees Celsius, a degree above the normal for this time of the year. The minimum temperature recorded over the past 24 hours also settled a degree above normal, at 27.6 degrees Celsius.
