Students outside VC office
JAIPUR: Representatives from Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) on Monday were lathi-charged while protesting outside the vice-chancellor’s office in the University of Rajasthan.
They were demanding admission process to be completed before the students’ union elections that are scheduled for August end.
However, late night on Monday, the University agreed to the demands of the students, said ABVP officials.
Bharat Bhushan, state unit president of ABVP said, "The University has agreed that all students from the four constituent colleges of the university including those who are awaiting results for their post graduation entrance examination will be allowed to vote based on their previous identity card and also contest the elections. Those students who are from outside the constituent colleges will be allowed to vote but not contest. They said that election dates will not be changed."
Meanwhile, the three boys who were protesting on top of a water tank at RU came down after 48 hours as their demands were met. They were taken to government hospital for check-up.
