
India is celebrating Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the 75th anniversary of Independence, with gusto. And the US city of will join in the celebrations with a two-day extravaganza of its own.
For the first time in the history of the US, participants from 32 countries are going to march at the India Day Parade on India Street in Boston on August 15. The celebrations will also feature an airplane carrying a 220-feet US-India flag over Boston.
'India Day' will be observed at India Street in Boston on August 15, and at State House in Rhode Island on August 14. The 75th Independence Day has been proclaimed as 'India Day' by Massachusetts Governor, Charlie Baker.

Former Indian cricketer R P Singh has been invited as Grand Marshal of the parade.
The president of the Federation of Indian Associations-New England, Abhishek Singh, told PTI, that this year's celebration will have many firsts.
For the first time, the FIA New England will host the Freedom Gallery and exhibition across India Street to remember forgotten heroes of the freedom struggle.
In a pre-recorded video message which will be played on the occasion, Union Minister of Commerce & Industry Piyush Goyal emphasised that the US is a very important friend and ally of India.
“India US relationship has come a long way. Today we are natural partners. We are friends and … we are very important allies. Our partnership is strategic, very deep, and has important dimensions,” said Goyal.
