UPDATE: 13-year-old girl died following rollover crash in Kenockee Twp. Sunday

A Kenockee teenager died following a rollover crash in Kenockee Township Sunday. 

Rescue crews responded to Duce and Beard roads shortly after 4:15 a.m. for a report of a single-vehicle crash, according to the St. Clair County Sheriff Department. 

The driver lost control of the vehicle after swerving to avoid a deer, causing it to roll over and eject the 13-year-old female passenger, the sheriff department said. 

The girl later died of injuries sustained from the crash, the department said. 

St. Clair County Sheriff Mat King said the driver, a 16-year-old girl, and two passengers, both 15-year-old boys, sustained minor injuries. 

The 13-year-old girl was not wearing her seatbelt, King said.

The crash remains under investigation.
