Trinamool Congress leader Anubrata Mondal is scheduled to appear before the CBI on Monday in connection with its investigation into a cattle smuggling case, an official said. The CBI had summoned Mondal, TMC's Birbhum district president, on August 5 to appear before it on Monday. “We have called him for questioning in the cattle smuggling case on Monday morning," the official said.

China finds more COVID cases after locking down beach resort
Another 259 COVID-19 cases have been reported in the southern Chinese island province of Hainan, where some 80,000 tourists have been stranded by pandemic restrictions. Authorities declared Hainan’s beach resort city Sanya a COVID-19 hot spot Saturday and imposed a lockdown, confining Chinese citizens and expatriates to their hotels on what they had hoped would be a holiday from tight restrictions around much of China. Tourists wanting to depart Sanya have to test negative for the coronavirus on five PCR tests over seven days.

Russian diplomat sees 'progress' in nuclear talks with Iran
Talks to restore the nuclear agreement between Iran and six other states are going in the right direction, according to Russian negotiator Mikhail Ulyanov. "Looks like we are making progress. Let's keep our fingers crossed," the Russian ambassador to international organizations in Vienna wrote on Twitter on Sunday after a meeting with EU chief negotiator Enrique Mora, without giving further details, dpa news agency reported.
