The boycott trend surrounding Aamir Khan’s upcoming film ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ continues to make headlines while several celebs have called out trolls for unnecessarily hackling a good movie. National Award-winning filmmaker Goutam Ghose feels that boycotting a film even before you watch it is completely unfair and unethical. “We have seen how social media has turned out to be a key part of everyone's life. It has indeed brought us closer and together but it’s also spreading negativity as targeting public figures without any reason has become the latest trend these days. I think in this post-pandemic era, Bollywood has become a soft target. Every Friday whenever a Hindi movie is releasing, you will see #BoycottBollywood trending on social,” explained the ace director. The ‘Raahgir’ director also shares his views on the current scenario of Bollywood films, “If you closely look into the box office scenario, maximum 1 or 2 percent of our total population watch films in cinema halls. Frankly speaking, those who trend this kind of negativity online don't even go to theatres. Also, there are some who dig up old videos of stars and viral them in a negative way so that the business of a certain film can get affected because of some controversy. For instance, see this latest ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ controversy. The film is releasing this Friday and many Boycott hashtags have been trending on social media.”‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ has been trending big time on social media for all the bad reasons. It’s the official remake of the 1994 Hollywood hit ‘Forrest Gump’.
