The NSE Nifty index ended the session 127.6 points up at 17525.1, while BSE Sensex rose 465.14 points to 58853.07.
In the Nifty index, .(up 3.33 per cent), Mahindra & .(up 3.30 per cent), .(up 2.95 per cent), .(up 2.58 per cent) and .(up 2.45 per cent) stood among the top gainers.
On the other hand, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd.(down 3.20 per cent), State Bank of India(down 2.01 per cent), .(down 1.54 per cent), .(down 1.44 per cent) and .(down 1.35 per cent) were among the top losers of the day.
