“Preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased had a marital discord with his wife, who is living separately. The deceased was alone in the house at the time of the incident and we did not find any suicide note from the house. We will soon record statements of his wife, other family members, in-laws and friends to establish what caused him to take the extreme step. Also, we are investigating the source from where the deceased procured the firearm,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (zone V) Namrata Patil told TOI on Monday.

Senior inspector Arvind Gokule of the Hadapsar said, “The incident came to light after one of the friends of the deceased reached the house as the latter was not responding to his phone calls. We got information of the incident around 9pm.”
Gokule said, “The businessman was running a hotel and eatery in the Hadapsar area. He comes from a well to do family. He married a woman in December last year but soon the relationship turned sour over domestic issues.”
He said, “The deceased started staying alone after his wife left him. His family members were also opposed to the constant misbehavior with his wife and counselled him to change his habits and live a happy married life but in vain.”
“Investigation based on information collected from a known person revealed that the victim was living a disturbed life since a few days prior to the incident,” he added.
