Telangana reports 652 new Covid-19 cases on Saturday

HYDERABAD: Telangana recorded 652 new cases of Covid-19 on Saturday, as new cases in 20 districts continued to surge. The number of active cases stood at 6,219.
Of the new cases 220 were recorded in Hyderabad district alone while 41 were recorded in Medchal Malkajgiri and 46 were recorded in Ranga Reddy. Other districts that witnessed a surge in cases include Bhadadri Kothagudem, Khammam, Karimnagar, Nalgonda, Sangareddy, Pedapalli and Hanumakonda. The total number of cases so far in the state stood at 8,25,360, while the total recoveries touched 8,15,030 with 851 recoveries reported on Saturday. The current positivity rate is 2.4 percent, while the recovery rate stands at 98.74.
The death toll stands at 4,111, as no new deaths was recorded. On Saturday, a total of 40,451 samples were tested. Telangana has now completed testing 3.67 crore samples and has reached 9.87 lakh sample testing per million population. Meanwhile, in view of the surge in cases, children below 10 years, elders above 60 years and people with comorbid conditions have been asked to stay indoors apart from advisory for others to strictly follow Covid protocol.
