01/13KBC 14: List of previous contestants who became crorepatis
Amitabh Bachchan's Kaun Banega Crorepati is all set to premiere tonight at 9 pm. The show has run successfully for over 22 years with different changes in the format, set design and more. What remains constant though is Big B's inimitable style and camaraderie with the contestants. Now that the show is back, here's looking at contestants who won big and became crorepatis on the show.
02/13KBC 13 winners Himani Bundela, Sahil Ahirwar and Geeta Singh Gour
Himani Bundela, a visually impaired contestant, was the first contestant to win Rs 1 crore in the season. After this Madhya Pradesh based Sahil Ahirwar, who was then 19-year-old, won a crore. It was 53-year-old Geeta Singh Gour who became the third crorepati.
03/13KBC 12 winners Mohita Sharma and Nazia Nasim
KBC 12 saw IPS officer Mohita Sharma and Nazia Nasim making it big and becoming crorepatis. Both the women impressed Big B with their knowledge as they played the game exceptionally well.
04/13KBC 11 winners Sanoj Raj, Babita Tade, Ajeet Kumar and Gautam Kumar Jha
It was quite a breaking season with not one, not two but four crorepatis. Sanoj Raj aspired to become an IPS officer. Babita Tade prepared 'khichdi' for school kids and earned Rs 1500 monthly. Ajeet Kumar impressed Big B with his swiftness and reached the top. Gautam Kumar Jha, a jail superintendent, previously worked with Indian Railways as a station master for over 16 years.
05/13KBC 10 winner Binita Jain
Binita Jain was the only one who won a crore on the show. After becoming a crorepati, she joined a coaching centre and took up a teacher's job in Guwahati and helped her kids and family.
06/13KBC 9 winner Anamika Majumdar
Anamika Majumdar, who worked with an NGO, made headlines for winning a crore in the ninth season of the show. She apparently invested the money in the NGO for its betterment.
07/13KBC 8 winners Achin and Sarthak Narula
Brothers Achin and Sarthak Narula, who hailed from Delhi, graced the hot seat in the eighth season and won not one but Rs 7 crore. They both spent the money on their mother's cancer treatment.
08/13KBC 7 winners Firoz Fatima and Taj Mohammad Rangrez
Firoz Fatima became the first crorepati of the season. On the show, she revealed how she had to give up her studies after her father's demise to look after her family. Next crorepati was history teacher, Taj Mohammad Rangrez. He used the money for his daughter's medical treatment, bought a house and funded the marriage of two orphaned girls.
09/13KBC 6 winner Sunmeet Kaur
Sunmeet Kaur impressed Big B with her knowledge. She shared she holds a fashion designing degree but could not put it to use after marriage because of her in-laws. After winning a crore, she started her own fashion house.
10/13KBC 5 winner Sushil Kumar
Sushil Kumar won Rs. 5 crore in KBC 5. A computer operator from Bihar, he became the first contestant to win this big. However, later in his social media post, he called winning Rs 5 crore as 'the worst phase of his life'. After the show he faced a hard time. He almost divorced his wife, got bankrupt and turned an alcoholic.
11/13KBC 4 winner Rahat Taslim
Rahat Taslim participated in Kaun Banega Crorepati 4. She created history by winning Rs. 1 crore. Rahat was preparing for her medical exams when she was married off. After the show and her big win, she opened a garment showroom at a Giridih mall.
12/13KBC 2 winner Brajesh Dubey
Brajesh Dubey, who hailed from Guna, became a crorepati in season 2 of the quiz show. He was an engineer, who won Rs 1 crore on KBC.
13/13KBC 1 winner Harshvardhan Nawathe
Firsts are special and so is Harshvardhan Nawathe's sweet victory on the show. He had received a call to audition for Kaun Banega Crorepati when he was studying for the Civil Services exam. He became the first-ever crorepati of the quiz show and went to the UK to pursue higher studies. Later, he got married and now works with a multinational conglomerate company.
