India reports 18,738 new coronavirus cases and 40 Covid fatalities

NEW DELHI: The number of Covid-19 cases in India surged to 4,41,45,732 on Sunday with 18,738 new coronavirus infections recorded in a single day.
The number of active cases has increased to 1,34,933, according to statistics updated on Sunday by the Union health ministry.

According to statistics updated at 8 am, the death toll has increased to 5,26,689 with 40 fatalities, eight of which Kerala has reconciled.
According to the ministry, the national Covid-19 recovery rate was 98.50%, and the active cases make up 0.31 percent of all infections.

The number of active Covid-19 cases has increased by 140 over the past 24 hours.
India's Covid-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 2020, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5 and 50 lakh on September 16. It went past 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, crossed 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20 and surpassed the one-crore mark on December 19.

The country crossed the grim milestone of two crore on May 4 and three crore on June 23 last year. It crossed the four-crore mark on January 25 this year.
