BALLARI: Twentyone residents of Ankamanal village in Sandur taluk (Ballari district) fell ill on Saturday allegedly after consuming contaminated
drinking water. While five recovered, 11 are undergoing treatment in Sandur taluk hospital, two at VIMS Ballari and three are in Hospet government hospital.
According to sources, the village received heavy rain for the past four days. Rain water got mixed in drinking water pipeline and people used it without filtering it.
People are suffering from gastroenteritis, uneasiness, vomiting and diarrhea. The district health department set up a temporary clinic at the community hall in the village. MLA E Tukaram visited the hospital and assured he would look into the problem. THO Kushal Raj went to Ankamanal village and advised residents not to drink contaminated water.
