42k apply for engg diploma for 66k seats

The registrations for admissions in engineering diploma after Class 10 is over and it is likely that around 23,000 seats in the state will remain vacant this year. Sources said that at the end of the registrations 42,465 students have registered themselves for admissions and the admission committee has already initiated further admission process.

The registrations had started June 16 and ended on August 2. There are around 66,000 engineering diploma seats available in the state.
Sources said that the admission committee extended the deadline for registrations twice as not many students had applied. Last year, when the Class 10 students were mass promoted 42,000 students had applied for admissions and this year when there was no mass promotion approximately the same number of students have applied.

Sources said that as the board implemented the new system of exam in which Class 10 students have been given two options for mathematics, basic and standard, many students who had opted for basic maths have applied themselves for diploma courses so that they can get admissions in engineering degree course after completing diploma. With basic maths students are not allowed admissions in engineering degree course after Class 12.


Souces said that the provisional merit list will be announced on August 12 and after which mock choice filling round will be conducted during August 12 to 21. The admission committee will announce the result of mock choice filling on August 25.
