HYDERABAD: The India Meteorological Department has issued an orange/red warning for northern districts of Telangana for August 8 and 9. This implies that heavy to very heavy and even extremely heavy rains are likely with probability of 100% in these districts. "The current situation is occurring due to the low pressure area being formed over northwest Bay of Bengal off the Odisha-West Bengal coasts," IMD said.
As per the latest IMD forecast for August 7, heavy rains would occur in Asifabad, Mancherial, Jagtiyal, Sircilla, Karimnagar, Pedapalli, Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Kothagudem, Mahbubabad, Warangal Rural and Warangal Urban. These districts have been put on orange alert.
