A Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) jawan was shot dead by his colleague who opened fire inside the premises of the Indian Museum in Kolkata this evening.
The jawan used his service weapon to shoot at an assistant sub-inspector and a head constable of the CISF. He went on to fire more rounds after this.
As per early information, the museum was blocked, and combat forces, along with CISF personnel, entered the museum to bring the jawan under control.
The jawan reportedly also fired at a police car, injuring several police personnel.
The incident took place around 6:45 pm in the barracks at the museum, which is India's "oldest and largest" such facility. The museum, located in the heart of Kolkata, is an autonomous organisation under the administrative control of the Union Ministry of Culture.
