JAIPUR: Sodala police on Friday arrested a 30-year-old man who was posing as a police officer after he accumulated a lot of debt.
ACP (Sodala) Bhopal Singh Bhatti said that an FIR was registered that accused Ravi Sharma duped a man of Rs 1,500 by promising to get him a job in the state police.
Bhatti said that the police arrested the accused before he could flee and recovered shoes worn by cops, press cards and other documents.
Police found that the accused had been arrested thrice in the past but he never stopped cheating people.
Jaipur police said he is a native of Alwar district, but he frequently changed his location to evade cops. "He had had some strife with his wife. Since then, he has been living as a tenant at different places," said an official. tnn
