Schuster, the sporting director, said that everyone is very thankful for Erik's contributions to the team, as his role was key during his Vancouver duration. He added that after a discussion with the center back, everyone agreed that it was the right time for Erik to move to another club, and both he and the club should go in different directions.

He added that he wishes Erik good luck for his future and would help him find a new club. Erik arrived on the Canadian side on loan in 2019 from the Argentine Primera Division team Colon de Santa Fe. He then secured a move permanently to the Canadian side. Erik Godoy had a fantastic time when he arrived at The Vancouver Whitecaps. However, he suffered injuries in 2020 and 2021. The injuries were why he could not get enough time on the pitch.

Coming back in 2022, he scored a goal in six appearances and helped the Canadian side win the Canadian Championship in 2022 before leaving the club.

The Canadian side has added Julian Gressel to their side and has a busy transfer window. They have also secured the services of Alessandro Schopf. The side hopes to finish in the top seven with the new arrivals. The Canadian side is currently in the 11th position and has only a meager 27 points in 23 games.
