COIMBATORE: The Pollachi police in Coimbatore district of
Tamil Nadu on Saturday arrested three boys for morphing the photographs of a Class IV student and his mother and demanding Rs 40,000 from him.
The Class IV boy, his father aged 41 years and mother aged 31 years live in Makkinampatti near Pollachi. The nine-year-old student is studying in a private school in Pollachi.
Six months ago, the couple sent their son to a Hindi class taken by a woman in the neighbourhood. The Hindi teacher’s 17-year-old son, a Class XI dropout, who was working in a book stall in Pollachi, spoke to the Class IV student and collected the photographs of him and his mother.
With the help of two friends aged about 14 and 15 years, who were Class X students, the Hindi teacher’s son morphed the photographs of the Class IV student and his mother. They showed the morphed photos to the boy and demanded money from him for not spreading them in social media.
The Class IV student stole Rs 40,000 from his house in the last five months and handed it over to the three boys. The boy’s father noticed someone had stolen his money. He questioned his son who revealed the incident. The man lodged a complaint with Pollachi East police inspector Ananda Kumar who registered a case against the three children in conflict with law under sections 292 (A), 384 of the Indian Penal Code and sections 13 (C), 14 (1) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and Section 67 of the Information Technology Act.
The three boys were produced before a juvenile justice board and lodged in an observation home for juveniles at the Lakshmi Mills Junction in Coimbatore.
