HYDERABAD: Komatireddy Raj Gopal Reddy finally resigned from the Congress and sent his letter of resignation to party president Sonia Gandhi on Thursday.
Hitting out at TPCC chief A Revanth Reddy and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao in a one-page letter dated August 3, the Munugode MLA said he was resigning as a legislator as well.
In the letter released to media on Thursday, Raj Gopal said he felt belittled in the party as it has entrusted responsibilities to people who did not deserve their posts.
"I have been a loyal soldier of the Congress for the last 30 years and did my best to contribute to the party. I cannot work under those who have gone to jail and changed parties several time for their own interests," he wrote.
Taking aim at KCR, the MLA wrote, "Telangana is now in the grip of KCR's family. I am convinced that a democratic struggle is required to free Telangana from KCR's control. Telangana is a land of self respect and sacrifices"
He also stated that Congress was struggling because the leadership did not appear to be capable of motivating the cadre, strategising and ensuring victory.
According to sources close to the MLA, he will most likely submit his resignation letter on August 8.
