NEW DELHI: The first- and second-year students of Delhi University’s Law Faculty protested on Thursday demanding postponement of their end-semester examinations. According to students, when they are still attending classes, how the university can hold the examinations from August 10.
The students of all three centres — Campus Law Centre (CLC), and Law Centre I and II — earlier submitted a letter to the dean Faculty of Law and the dean examination. As no action was taken, students decided to protest outside CLC. “The proctor of DU, dean Law Faculty and the professors in-charge of the three centres met us. They did not give us anything in writing, but said our demands would be discussed with the examination department and university officials,” a protester said.
According to the letter submitted to the dean examination, “The duration of semester in physical mode has been cut by 20%. The huge syllabi of the second and fourth semesters have not been completed. So how can students appear for an offline exam in such a short duration?” A second-semester student said, “We are still getting online links for classes. We are demanding an extension of at least two weeks and a good gap between two exams.”
Students said the faculty dean had asked them to speak to the examination department, but their demand was not met. Dean examination D S Rawat, however, said, “The datesheet of the PG courses for LLB and LLM are decided by the department. The role of the department is to check if they have followed the academic schedule issued by the registrar.”
