Sandra Smith and David Tonkin have been appointed as senior hoteliers in Tourism Accommodation Australia (TAA). These appointments are thought to be very important for the development of TAA and the overall tourism industry.
Both of the senior Hoteliers are thought to be priced possession of the organisation. Both of them have an experience of 30 years. Smith has spent nine years at Switzerland-based travel services company Kuoni Travel. She has also served IHG since 2009.
Previously she served as business development and sales official in the early years of her career. Now, with her experience, she is transiting to executive management. At the beginning of her career, she spent nine years in Swiss-based Kuoni Travel, after which she moved to Australia.
David Tonkin has been appointed as Cluster General Manager, Melbourne for the Pan Pacific Hotel Group. He said that the industry is continuing with the fast post-pandemic recovery. The initiatives to attract the off-peak travel demand are gradually becoming a priority which will continue to be like this for some time. David Tonkin brings 30 years of detailed experience in the travel industry. Area management and hotel management are one of the most important aspects of Mr Tonkin’s experience.
The new appointees have to attend the Victorian Accommodation Awards for Excellence. This co-branded TAA (Vic) and AA event will celebrate venue and individual service excellence at a gala dinner at Crown Palladium Melbourne on Thursday, August 18, 2022.
TAA has been providing the best travel solutions to Australian and international tourists for a very long time. With these new appointees, it is highly possible that Australian tourism kicks back faster than projected.
