HYDERABAD: A 40-year-old man died by suicide in Kushaiguda on Wednesday, addressing his suicide note to AP chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy blaming a Guntur-based financier for his decision to take the extreme step.
Kushaiguda police said that Giridhar Verma, who is a native of Guntur, had been residing in AS Rao Nagar for the last three months. When he was not attending phone calls, his wife alerted one of her relative in city, who reached his residence and knocked on the door.
When he peeped through the window, the relative found that Verma had hanged himself. The relative then informed family members. With the support of locals, the door was forcefully opened. A suicide note was found, purportedly written by the victim, in which he blamed a financier’s harassment for his suicide.
“The letter was addressed to AP CM. Verma claimed that in the year 2010, he took `5 lakh loan. Despite having cleared the loan amount, the financier had been harassing him demanding more money. The deceased claimed that he took the loan for his business,” police said. A case was registered under section 306 (Abetment of suicide) and 506 (intimidation) of IPC.
