DHARMAPURI: The Tamil Nadu Police received 'President’s Colours' for the first time for its outstanding performance in all aspects.
Vice-president
Venkaiah Naidu handed over the flag to the chief minister MK Stalin at an event in Chennai on July 31.
Vinoth Sudarsanam – a 2017 batch group-1 DSP, currently working in Dharmapuri district was the one who handed over the flag to the vice-president during the police parade.
"I could not believe this till date and it was a prestigious moment for me,” he told TOI.
Further talking about his experience, Vinoth said that he doesn't know how he got this meritorious opportunity out of hundreds of DSPs working across the state.
One of the police officials, on condition of anonymity, said that Vinoth completed his police training in 2017.
“He was the gold medallist and outstanding performer in the overall categories,” he said.
He also said that this could be the reason for selecting him for this parade.
Vinoth too confirmed this information and said that he was asked by the DGP office personnel three weeks ago to come to Chennai.
He went there and started attending the rehearsal parades carried out for the event.
“We’re told by our higher officials that this would be the vice president’s event. But, only at the eleventh hour only we’re told that it was a President’s colour award event,” the DSP said.
DGP C Sylendra Babu appreciated Vinoth for taking the whole police contingent under his single command.
“I was specially trained for parade commanding during the police training and this award event rehearsal,” he recalled.
