Two die as bus rams truck in Madurai

MADURAI: Two men died when a private bus rammed the rear of a water tanker truck near Othakadai in Madurai on Thursday morning.
The deceased have been identified as bus driver V Prabu, 37, and K Soundar,41, of Nellikuppam in Cuddalore district.
Seven people, identified as P Mahendran, 42, M Murugesan, 40, S Muthukumar, 38, V Natarajan, 41, T Parthasarathy, 39, S Senthil, 39, and V Sureshkumar, 43, sustained injuries. They were rushed to Government Rajaji Hospital.
The bus carrying around 20 tourists from Cuddalore district was going towards Courtallam in Tenkasi district. The accident happened near the Madurai bench of the Madras high court on the Madurai-Trichy National Highway. The front portion of the bus was damaged.
The Othakadai police registered a case.
