National Herald case: ED questions Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge for over 7 hours

NEW DELHI: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday continued its probe in the money laundering case linked to the National Herald and summoned Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge.
Kharge was questioned by the probe agency for more than seven hours. This comes a day after the ED partially sealed the offices of Young India Limited -- the firm that owns Associated Journals, which runs the outlet -- at Herald House in Delhi. Mallikarjun Kharge is the authorised representative for the company.

Won't be intimidated, not scared of Narendra Modi: Rahul Gandhi on ED raids
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said his party is "not afraid of Narendra Modi" and the "intimidation tactics" of the Centre.
"They [government] think they will be able to silence us with a little pressure ... We won't be intimidated. We are not scared of Narendra Modi. They can do whatever they want ..." Rahul told reporters when asked about the National Herald case.
ED summoned me while Parliament in Session, Kharge says
Kharge informed the Rajya Sabha that the Enforcement Directorate had issued summons against him amid ongoing proceedings of the Monsoon Session of Parliament.
Kharge stated while speaking during the Question Hour session of the Rajya Sabha.
"I received ED summon, they called me at 12.30 pm. I want to abide by law, but is it right for them to summon when Parliament is in session? Is it right for Police to gherao residences of Sonia Gandhi & Rahul Gandhi? They are doing it purposely to afraid us (Congress). We won't be scared, we'll fight," Kharge said.
Gandhi family is not above the law: BJP
The BJP hit out at the Congress and the Gandhi family for making "wild allegations" against the Centre and investigation agencies.
"First you [Gandhi family] steal, loot the country, and after that, you are trying to spread anarchy in the whole country. Gandhis are not above the law of the land," said BJP national spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia during a press conference.
The BJP said that Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi should answer some pertinent questions.
Sambit Patra asks Congress to clear its stance if it will hold Satyagraha or protest against ED raids
BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra asked the former to choose its stand if it wanted to hold a 'Satyagraha' or protest against the Enforcement Directorate for summoning party chief Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul Gandhi.
Addressing a press conference in the national capital, Patra said, "The Constitution and Law are the same for all, be it the Congress president or the party's former chairman or any other common individual of the country. It is impossible and inappropriate to fight with the law of the country and escaping the law and constitution is equally infeasible."
