KALYAN: A heated argument broke out between the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Transport (KDMT) bus drivers and Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporations (MSRTC) employees over the parking of KDMT buses at Kalyan MSRTC bus depot, on Thursday evening.
Some of the MSRTC employees had blocked KDMT buses and were not allowing them to enter buses into MSRTC bus depot, which is situated outside the Kalyan railway station, causing heavy traffic jam on the road.
The development work of the station area under the smart city project is under way in Kalyan West, which also leads to traffic jams. At present, due to smart city work, KDMT and Navi Mumbai Municipal Transport (NMMT) are parking their buses into ST depot from where they pick-up and drop passengers.
However, on Thursday evening, MSRTC employees suddenly blocked KDMT buses from entering into depot claiming, they were not given permission to park their buses and they face a lot of inconvenience due to KDMT buses.
After learning about traffic jam due to dispute, a team from Mahatma Phule police station rushed to the spot and removed the MSRTC employees from the spot to normalise traffic. Later, police called a meeting of all department, including MSRTC, KDMT NNMT and Smart Kalyan-Dombivli Development Corporation Limited (SKDCL), who is carrying out development works outside the station premises, to resolve the issue.
Deepak Sawant, General Manager of KDMT, said, "In a meeting, it was decided that our drivers will not park vehicle for long time at depot and they will only park buses to pick up and drop passengers standing at the stand, so that other MSRTC buses don't face inconvenience,"
