BENGALURU: This year's Independence Day flower show at Lalbagh, organised by the horticulture department in association with Mysuru Horticulture Society, is themed after Kannada film stars Dr Rajkumar and his son Puneeth.
Besides, the park is gearing up to adopt a slew of new practices such as first-aid stations which will have anti-histamine tablets for allergies. The authorities are working to remove any threat posed by bees on the premises and said the 240-acre park has only three beehives left to be removed. They have been directed to identify aggressive stray dogs living in the park and administer 'anti-aggression' tablets to them.
At present, there are eight drinking water units in Lalbagh. During the show, the park will provide drinking water in reusable bottles at seven of its units, in an environment-friendly move. Lalbagh will also host sand sculptures during the 11-day event to celebrate 75th Independence Day. With the cooperation of Rotary Bangalore Dakshina, more than 6 tonnes of sand piles have been sourced for the show. Sand artworks will be displayed in the sculpture exhibition area behind Glass House.
The event will have blood donation and eye screening camps. Entry fee for adults is Rs 80 on weekdays and Rs 100 for holidays. Children will have to pay Rs 30 on all days.
