Prayagraj:
Uday Pratap Singh, father of Kunda MLA and president of Jansatta Dal (Loktantrik) Raghuraj Pratap Singh aka Raja Bhaiyya, on Wednesday sat on a dharna at the SDM Kunda office demanding removal of a mosque-shaped gate being installed for Muharram at Seikhpur Ashiq village under the limits of Kunda police station of Pratapgarh district.
Uday Pratap and his supporters have expressed their deep concern over the temporary gate being installed on the occasion of Muharram. Police said they are maintaining a close vigil on the developments. A banner was also installed at the dharna site which read: “Seikhpur gav mai road ke aar paar masjid-numa gate ko prashashan dwara na hataye jane par dharna (dharna is being held to protest against the local administration for not removing the mosque- shaped gate at Seikhpur village).”
When the district administration came to know about the dharna, a team of officials including SDM (Kunda) SC Tripathi and Deputy SP (Kunda) Ajeet Singh rushed to the spot. Though they spoke to Uday Pratap Singh, he remained adamant on his decision to continue the sit-in till the gate was removed. Singh told TOI, “For the past two years, a temporary gate has been constructed on Muharram at Seikhpur Ashiq village. We are looking into the matter and maintaining a close watch.” It was also reported that Uday Pratap Singh had also demanded Chief MinisterYogi Adityanath to remove temporary gate through a tweet two days back.
