BHUBANESWAR: The state housing and urban development department has implemented around 45,000 projects across all the 115 urban local bodies under the Mukhyamantri Karma Tatpara Abhiyan (MUKTA), an urban wage employment programme, benefitting more than six lakh workers.
In the last 28 months, more than six lakh urban poor and migrant laborers have been benefitted by the programme, which was launched in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic. This came to the fore during a day-long orientation programme of professionals engaged under MUKTA. Inaugurating the programme, state housing and urban development minister Usha Devi said, “MUKTA was rolled out in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic for providing a socio-economic safety net through rapid mass employment opportunities for the migrant/informal workers.”
