College teacher dies in accident in Mayurbhanj

Bhubaneswar: A 32-year-old teacher of Maharaja Purna Chandra (MPC) Autonomous College, Baripada, died after a speeding car hit the scooter she was riding in Takatpur near Mayurbhanj district on Tuesday afternoon.
The victim, identified as Manisha Sharma, worked as the head of the commerce department of the college. The accident took place when Sharma was returning home from the college. A critically injured Sharma was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors declared her dead. Police said a hunt is on to nab the driver of the car who fled.
Following the accident, hundreds of irate students and local residents staged a dharna, demanding immediate arrest of the car driver. After getting assurance from the police, the agitators called off the strike on Tuesday evening.TNN
