BENGALURU: An employee of hypermarket DMart in Banashankari has been accused of taking away goods worth over Rs 10 lakh.
Channammanakere Achchukattu police registered a cheating case against Parashuram based on a complaint by store manager Prashanth.
The fraud came to light when Parashuram took a chocolate box home without billing on July 18. The cashier informed Prashanth about the box and the latter checked CCTV footage, initiated an internal inquiry and questioned other cashiers, police said.
The inquiry revealed that on July 13, Parashuram had tampered with barcodes of grocery bags with the help of a person in charge of the barcode division. “The suspect took 50kg sacks of peanuts, rice and other groceries by billing them as 10kg bags. The company hired an auditor to tally the stock and the audit revealed goods worth Rs 9,93,850 had been taken away without billing,” police said.
