Mangaluru: A freight train carrying 90-odd loaded containers, having 1,872 tonnes of polypropylene (PP) granules, was flagged off from the Concor siding at New Mangalore Port Authority on Wednesday. This freight train is destined for Khodiyar in Ahmedabad.
This is a new stream of traffic handled by railways from Mangaluru, and more such consignments are expected to be dispatched on a regular basis. Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL), Container Corporation of India Limited, Southern Railway and Konkan Railway joined hands to make this a successful venture, stated a release. The PP granules sourced form MRPL, is a byproduct of petroleum refining. tnn
