Bhubaneswar: President Droupadi Murmu on Wednesday assured of all cooperation for the overall development of Odisha within the constitutional purview when a delegation of MLAs from the state called on her at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi.
The delegation of 25 MLAs from various parties, led by speaker Bikram Keshari Arukha, congratulated Murmu for assuming charge of the highest constitutional post of the country and also handed over a memorandum in this regard to her.
“It’s a privilege for all of us to meet the President of the country. We have handed over the memorandum, which the state assembly had unanimously passed the day she assumed the country’s highest office, to her. We also felicitated her on behalf of the state assembly. She thanked the people of Odisha and promised all help for the state’s development,” Arukha told media persons after the meeting.
During their hour-long stay at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, the legislators also visited the Durbar Hall, the Ashok Hall, the Banquet Hall and the Mughal Garden within the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Murmu thanked chief minister Naveen Patnaik for being the first leader outside the NDA fold to extend support to her. The delegation also met senior BJP MLA Pradipta Kumar Naik, who has not been keeping well ever since he contracted Covid in April last year.
