MUMBAI: The minimum fare hike demand for autos and taxis in Mumbai has now escalated from Rs 3 to Rs 4 after the huge hike on Wednesday in CNG price, which is now at an all-time high of Rs 86 per kg.
Thampy Kurien of Mumbai Rickshawmen's Union said, "As per the Khatua committee calculation, which takes into account fuel price, cost of living index, capital cost, maintenance of vehicle, insurance etc, the minimum hike we would have got a couple of days ago was Rs 3. Now with the new Rs 6 hike per kg in CNG prices from Wednesday, the calculations have changed. And, now we can get a minimum Rs 4 hike as per the existing formula."
