Ranchi: The special PMLA court on Wednesday rejected the bail petition of suspended IAS officer Pooja Singhal in a case related to MNREGA fraud, mining scam and money laundering.
During the hearing, the ED counsel opposed the bail petition saying that the accused was an influential person who could destroy the material evidences and influence the witnesses if she was out. He also mentioned about the huge amount of cash recovered by ED during the raids conducted on the premises of Singhal and her associates on May 6.
Vishwajit Mukherjee, advocate of Singhal, said, “We would go through the judgement and decide on further course of action.”
The court has sent CM’s representative in Barhet constituency Pankaj Mishra to 14-day judicial remand. Mishra was under ED’s custody till he became ill last Friday. He was produced before the court through video conferencing from Rims.
