Vadodara: Another spike with 162 Covid-19 cases

VADODARA: The number of fresh Covid-19 cases reported in the city and district rose to 162 on Wednesday. The number of active cases crossed 800 and stood at 869.
The new cases were detected from 1,969 tests conducted in the 24 hours ending on Wednesday evening. The number is the highest since February 18 this year. On Wednesday, 74 cases were discharged from home isolation or hospitals.
The new cases include 66 from areas of the district outside the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) limits. In VMC areas, the highest number of cases were reported from the west zone where 30 persons tested positive closely followed by the north zone where 29 cases were reported. The east zone of the city reported 25 fresh cases followed by the south zone where 12 persons were found infected.
The 869 active cases include 51 hospitalised Covid-19patients. The admitted patients include six needing oxygen support even as the remaining 45 had mild symptoms and were on room air.
