BMW hits bike in Greater Noida; 27-year-old dies, two others injured

GREATER NOIDA: A 27-year-old man died while his two business partners riding pillion were injured, one of them seriously, after a speeding BMW rammed into their bike near Cherry County in Greater Noida West. The accused has been arrested, police said.
The accident occurred around 9pm on Sunday when the three - Kunwar Pal, Sunil Kumar and Raghu, all residents of Greater Noida - were returning home from their spare parts shop in Dadri.
None of them was wearing a helmet at the time, police investigation has revealed.
Umesh Bahadur Singh, station house officer of Bisrakh police station, said that the BMW collided head-on with the bike on the service lane near Cherry County. "Kunwar Pal, who was driving the bike, and Sunil sustained serious injuries in the collision, while Raghu escaped with minor bruises," he said.
The driver of the car, Piyush Singh, also a businessman and a resident of Gaur Saundaryam, didn't speed away after the accident. Instead he called up the police and rushed the three injured to a local hospital.
"Piyush had alerted us about the accident and took the victims to a private hospital. Kunwar succumbed to his injuries at the hospital late on Monday evening. Sunil was later shifted to Safdarjung hospital in Delhi, where he is fighting for his life," the station house officer said .
On a complaint from Kunwar's family, an FIR was registered against Piyush at Bisrakh police station under sections 304A (death due to negligence) and 279 (rash driving) of IPC. "We have arrested the accused and seized both the sedan and the bike,"Bahadur said.
Preliminary probe, police officers said, revealed that the victims were not wearing helmets at the time of the accident and Kunwar had also lost control of the bike. "Further probe is underway," the police officer said.
