Gurmukhi is a script, not language: Centre

Jalandhar: Union ministry of education on Tuesday clarified Gurmukhi is not a language, but a script for the Punjabi language. The statement was made by BJP Lok Sabha MP Nityanand Rai in Parliament in reply to Akali MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal’s question regarding any proposal to propagate Gurmukhi and other regional languages in the country. tnn
