NEW DELHI: Union minister Anurag Thakur on Tuesday hit out at Congress leaders for questioning the probe against Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi in the National Herald case and said that party functionaries were behaving like “slaves” of the Gandhi family.”
“The biggest example of how to grab property worth thousands of crores is the National Herald case and this was done by none other than Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, who are currently being investigated by the Enforcement Directorate. They are out on bail but why are they running away from the investigations?” Thakur questioned on the day when the ED carried out raids at 12 locations, including the National Herald office in Delhi.
He said Congress leaders were shedding crocodile tears to hide the corruption of their leadership and stop the investigations. “Is Congress out of bounds of probe agencies? Does the law of the country not apply to Congress leaders? Is the Gandhi family above the law of the land? They are out on bail and instead of questioning the agencies, they should respond to the questions about why the scam happened. Why are they afraid if they are innocent?” Thakur questioned. “India got freedom 75 years ago, but Congress leaders are still slaves to Gandhi family,” he said.
