Vadodara: Fifty-two artworks prepared by well-known city-based contemporary artist and teacher of MS University’s Faculty of Fine Arts, Indrapramit Roy, is being showcased through ‘Soliloquy’ – beginning Tuesday evening.
Roy had prepared these artworks between 2020 and 2022. The series – ‘Soliloquy’ – includes vibrant watercolours and etchings that echo the artist’s meditations on the pandemic, lockdown, enforced silence and the human destiny.
“The unprecedented hardship of people around me during the lockdown – the helplessness, the surfeit of bad news coming from all sides and my relatively privileged existence replete with food, home and the luxury of time at my disposal – kept my process of thinking on a continuous mode,” said Roy, who is a professor at the department of painting.
This is the 17th solo show of the artist. During his career span of three decades, Roy has showcased his works at international venues including Berlin, London, New York, San Francisco, Palo Alto, Cairo, Macao, Sydney and Bangkok.
In 2014, he had presented a large 26 by 12 feet work for the new terminal-2 of Mumbai International airport.
The current preview of his works hosted by the Ark Foundation in collaboration with Gallery Threshold will remain on view till August 4 from 11am to 7pm on all days.
