Ahmedabad: Four in-laws booked as woman commits suicide

AHMEDABAD: Satellite police on Monday booked four persons including three women from Ghuma for allegedly forcing their daughter-in-law, 21, a resident of Sarkhej, to commit suicide.
According to the police, Krishna Thakor had on January 18 jumped off the Iskcon flyover to commit suicide. She was rushed to Asarwa Civil Hospital where she slipped into a coma on February 25 and died on March 12.
Krishna's brother, Fenil Thakor, stated in his FIR that Krishna had married Akash Chavda from Ghuma on February 1, 2020. Four months after their wedding, her father-in-law Dashrath Chavda, mother-in-law Sami Chavda and her sisters-in-law Shraddha and Jasi began harassing Krishna.
Fenil said that they had abandoned Krishna in August 2021 after which she began staying with her parents and started working at a mall on SG Road. He said her parents tried to strike a compromise with Krishna's in-laws but they refused to take her to their home.
On Fenil's complaint, Satellite police registered a complaint of abetment to suicide against Krishna's in-laws.
