NEW DELHI: Congress dubbed the ED raids on the offices of National Herald the “absolute rock bottom for Indian politics”, as it said that intimidatory tactics of the Modi government may work with some persons, but would fail with Congress, which will continue to raise issues of public importance.
AICC spokesperson Supriya Shrinate said, “To settle personal scores, to intimidate India’s opposition, the government is doing exactly what the British did during the freedom struggle — raid National Herald.”
She said Sonia Gandhi was questioned for three days while Rahul was questioned for over 50 hours, and the agency still felt the need to raid the offices. “Either the ED is completely incompetent and has not been able to gather enough, or the ED has actually become the election department of the BJP,” she said. Senior leader Mallikarjun Kharge said the agency action was political and directed at decimating the opposition.
