Lucknow: Tributes paid to man who designed Tricolour

LUCKNOW: Dance and music performances were organised at several places in the city to celebrate the birth anniversary of Pingali Venkayya, who is known to have designed the Indian national tricolor, on Tuesday.
A cultural programme 'Samarpayami' was organised at Sangeet Natak Akademi where 75 kids presented a kathak performance which depicted the 75 years of independence and importance of the national flag.
Mukesh Meshram, principal secretary, tourism and culture was the chief guest.
Students from various schools participated in a painting competition organised by International Buddha Research Institute and Jain Research Institute. Shagun Verma and Sonam Shah stood first and second respectively.At Bhartendu Natya Academy, a group of students performed several songs based on the importance of the flag.
