Jaipur: Moving ahead in the open defecation-free (ODF) program, the state government will now focus on the ‘visual cleanliness’ of ODF villages. Principal Secretary, rural development and panchayati raj, Aparna Arora stated that the yardstick for cleanliness is that villages should look beautiful.
“Following the declaration of Rajasthan as an open defecation-free in 2018 and fulfilling the ODF plus standards in 2022, the emphasis will now be on visual cleansing. The corporate institutions through corporate social responsibility (CSR) should be engaged in achieving the next level aim of making cleanliness in villages visible,” said Arora, while delivering her address at a workshop organised by the state in support of UNICEF.
Sandesh Nayak, director, Swachh Bharat Mission Gramin outlined the outcomes of the ODF Plus and said that it will lead to solid and liquid waste management in rural areas.
