Man booked for colleague’s murder

Ludhiana: Doraha police on Monday booked an unidentified miscreant for murder after the person he stabbed a day before died at a hospital. The deceased was identified as about 35 years old Meraj Ali of Faizabad district in Uttar Pradesh.
Manje Kumar of District Siwan and presently living on Oswal road in Doraha told cops that he and his friend left the iron factory they were working in at around 5.30 pm on Saturday. He added that after leaving the factory, they were going back to their room where they both lived but they went close by and started drinking, sitting on a wall at around 7.30 pm.
The complainant said that a person came to them and demanded money from him. When he refused saying he did not have money, the accused hit Meraj on left side directly in the abdomen and stabbed him on the right side of the chest with a knife.
Manje further told cops that after the incident, the accused went away from the spot. He added that Meraj was admitted in a hospital where he died during the treatment. On being informed, cops from Doraha police station reached the spot and started probe into the matter. Police later booked the accused under section 302 (murder) of IPC and sections of Arms act.
DSP Payal Harsimrat Singh said that the accused has been identified and he is Pintu Kumar Yadav of district Muzaffarpur in Bihar. He added that the accused is on the run and manhunt has been launched to nab him and he will be arrested soon. Meanwhile police said that the deceased used to work in the same factory as the accused. He added that the accused and the deceased were not in good terms with each other.
Police said that the accused was drunk on the day he committed crime and was not in his senses.
