Daltonganj: The saffron, white and green fabric used to make a national flag is in heavy demand in the markets of Daltonganj and elsewhere in Palamu district.
One metre each of saffron, white and green makes three to four national flags (16 inch wide and 24 inch long).
The district programme manager of Palamu unit of the Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society (JSLPS) Bimlesh Kumar Shukla said, “We are to prepare national flags for around 3.25 lakh houses , for which we need 80,000 metres each of the saffron, white and green textile. But due to heavy demand, especially because of the special campaign this year, the fabric is out of stock.”
Block programme manager Satya Priya Tiwary said, “We have only 10,000 metres each of the three coloured fabric at our Koel Aajeevika Apparel Park in Chainpur in Palamu.”TNN
